Instructions and recommendations for submission style and format

Submissions should be sent to the Editors either via standard mail, or via e-mail (see Contacts).

In former case, an author should provide both hard and electronic (on CD, flash card, etc.) copies of a submission.

Electronic copy of manuscript should include (1) the text in MS Word (*.doc, *.docx, *.rtf) formatting, (2) the same text in the *pdf  formatting, (3) all necessary files with specific typefaces (in case a specific typeface is used), images, etc.

The JP publishes material in Russian, English, French, Hebrew, and Yiddish.

By submitting a manuscript to the JP, the author acknowledges that the work is original, has not appeared in print and is not under consideration elsewhere. Papers are published on the understanding that they have not been published before and are not concurrently under offer to any other journal. Authors will usually receive a decision on their articles within month of receipt.

Topics of an manuscript should accord to principles of research and teaching activities of the Department of Jewish Culture (the St. Petersburg State University) and the Chais Center for Jewish Studies (the Hebrew University in Jerusalem).

The title page should include: author(s)' names in brief and full form, the affiliation(s), degree(s), title(s) of the author(s), keywords (from 7 to 15), informative abstract (ca. 200 words). The data should be provided in (1) English, or in (2) English and Russian; (3) if a language of submission is other than Russian or English, the information should be in English, Russian and the language of submission.

The manuscript should include a list of references to be placed after the main body of text. The list should be formatted according to the Web of Science's or the Scopus' guidelines.

Please supply all details required by any funding and grant-awarding bodies as an Acknowledgement on the title page of the manuscript, in a separate paragraph, as follows: For single agency grants: "This work was supported by the [Funding Agency] under Grant [number xxxx]."

For transliteration from Russian to Latin graphics, the following database (http://ru.translit.net) with the LC coding should be consulted.

Please, refer to published articles as an example of style and format (see the on-line archive)

JP welcomes authors to provide a personal photo, additional information (up to 100 words), and other contact details for an on-line version of a article.

Submissions not complying with the requirements listed above, will be returned to the author without being reviewed.
